登臨送目，正故國晚秋，天氣初肅。

千里澄江似練，翠峰如簇。

歸帆去棹殘陽裡，背西風，酒旗斜矗。

彩舟雲淡，星河鷺起，畫圖難足。

念往昔，繁華競逐。

嘆門外樓頭，悲恨相續。

千古憑高對此，謾嗟榮辱。

六朝舊事隨流水，但寒煙衰草凝綠。

至今商女，時時猶唱，後庭遺曲。

登高遠望，金陵這六朝故都正是秋意蕭瑟。千里長江清澈如練，翠綠群山簇擁。夕陽西下，船帆遠去，西風勁吹，酒樓旗幟斜立。彩舟穿梭，淡雲飄空，白鷺驚飛闖星河，好一幅難以描繪的景緻。

 回顧昔日金陵繁華無比，權貴競相追逐奢華。嗟嘆朱雀瓊樓，繁華之地，如今只剩斷壁殞垣，悲恨連綿不絕。登高遠望，對此歷史榮辱，興衰輪迴，總覺無常，更是無奈也無力，感慨萬千。六朝繁華已如流水般逝去，但寒煙與衰草自然依在。可嘆商女不知亡國恨，仍沉迷享樂，唱《玉樹後庭花》等舊朝遺曲。

《桂枝香·金陵懷古》不僅是對金陵歷史的追憶，更是借古諷今、寄託政治理想的抒情之作。它將壯麗山河與歷史興亡交織，既有畫面之美，也有思想之深，堪稱宋詞中的極品。

王安石這詞雖非禪宗作品，但通過對無常的感慨、對榮辱的淡然、對自然的讚美以及對迷妄的諷刺，蘊含了無限的禪意。但詞的禪意更多是哲理層面的啟發，與王安石的入世關懷相結合，體現了他作為士大夫在歷史反思中的深沉智慧。這種禪意並非刻意為之，而是詞人對人生與歷史深刻思考的自然流露。

 

I climb the height, And stretch my sight, Late autumn just begins its gloomy time.

The ancient capital looks sublime, The limpid river, beltlike, flows a thousand miles, Emerald peaks on peaks tower in piles.

In the declining sun sails come and go, Against west wind, Wineshop streamers flutter high and low.

The painted boat, In cloud afloat, Like stars in Silver River egrets fly, What a picture before the eye!

The days gone by, Saw people in opulence vie.

Alas! Shame on shame came under the walls, In palace halls.

Leaning on rails, in vain I utter sighs, Over ancient kingdoms’ fall and rise.

The running water saw the Six Dynasties pass, But I see only chilly mist and withered grass.

Even now and again, The songstresses still sing, The song composed in vain, By a captive king.
