鴻雁歸來但無帶回任何音信，路途遙遠，歸國的夢想恐難達成。離愁如春草，隨著時間與距離不斷滋長，愈行愈遠，愈生愈盛。。
李煜把亡國之痛、離別之愁，寫得特別婉約。詞的上闕聚焦眼前景物，觸境傷情，離愁揮之不去，拂了一身還滿，越想擺脫，越是纏身；下闕轉入內心，離別之痛如春草般蔓延不絕
